The Urban Business Initiative is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to economic development throughout Houston.

We improve lives and neighborhoods through the creation, growth and sustainment of small businesses in the Houston metro. As people's  economic lifestyles improve, the neighborhoods in which they live improve. The resulting increase in economic development activity creates more opportunities for their neighors to contribute to the local economy, leading to a more livable city for all to call home. 

We are volunteer led and volunteer managed, dedicated to the organization and passionate about helping others help themselves.  We share our knowlege and experience with all with the understanding that we all stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us.

Founded in 1996, we have expanded from serving the historic six wards to managing projects in the entire city of Houston.
