Although we normally provide information  on ways to volunteer and donate to Urban Business Initiative, the board of directors has decided to preempt our request for assistance in favor of highlighting the need of one of our close partners in the community. La Rosa Family Services is the only domestic violence organization that focuses on Hispanic families in Houston's north side. They host extensive support groups and individual counseling to men, women and families in Spanish. UBI works with La Rosa to provide business seminar classes in Spanish and English. Rafaela (mentioned in the previous article) is an excellent example of the people that will not be helped if La Rosa is forced to cut programs and possibly close on October 31, 2008. Help keep La Rosa open by purchasing a plate of BBQ, bowling in a benefit or making a donation.
